Decay and Destruction

I explored the inherent decay of community and the subsequent destruction of life as examined in the Urban Heat Island Effect. The tension between the natural and the built environment were tested. Essentially creating a physical manifestation of the Urban Heat Island Effect.

Since most heat related deaths occur within the apartment, the board is representative of the bounds in which people are confined.

A Physical Manifestation

It is the effect of the heat on both the mechanical and the natural that this linkage forms and these entanglements are observed. Where the metal meets the rope is a symbol of the explicit connection of climate injustice within these communities. They cannot and must not be seen as separate, they have always been entangled. The melting is but a symbolic representation.

What is left is merely ashes, reflective of the loss of life and the inherent destruction.
